This is an update especially relevant for users of the LDAP
authentication backend. It makes it possible to "normalize" the user ID
to avoid duplicate accounts with user names like foo, Foo, FOO. As LDAP
is case insensitive you can now specify an attribute to use for the
canonical user ID in the VPN service. In addition, you can configure a
default "realm" to add to provide user logins if the user did not
specify it themselves. See the updated LDAP documentation regarding
"userIdAttribute" and "addRealm" [2].
