Hi all,

We are happy to share with you that SURF Research Access Management will be added to the SURF services portfolio and will become an official SURF service.

In the past couple of weeks a number of committees representing the SURF member institutions have advised positively about continuing with SRAM, and last week the SURF board decided to add SRAM to the SURF portfolio. The service will be offered for at least three years, and will be available for our members.

The team is now working to finalize the service to be production ready in a version 1 state. We have an early access program, so we welcome institutions and service providers that already want to connect a service to SRAM. In that case you will be ready at launch day! You can email us at sram-support at surf.nl<mailto:sram-support at surf.nl>.

I would like to thank everybody involved in the journey up to this point: people that have tested, people that have attended meetings and/or provided feedback to improve SURF Research Access Management and make it a better fit for research collaborations, people informing their representatives why they think this should be a service, privacy officers, security people, communications colleagues, managers and colleagues helping us to steer the service development waters etc. It's interesting to experience, and hard to explain without experiencing it yourself, what it takes in a cooperative environment like we have, to develop a service like this. Thank you!

After the SURF Research Access Management team has finalized everything to enable institutions to order a production ready security tested service, we will proceed to enhance it in regular development cycles. In the autumn time-frame a user experience expert joins the team to improve the, well, user experience, which we know could use some more love. Subsequently based on your experience in the coming months we will fill a backlog and add and improve functionality over time.

Soon after the 2020 summer holiday is behind us, we will start a communications campaign to tell more people about the service and how it can save them time, make life easier, and help managing access to research resources in a secure manner.

Kindest regards, from the SURF Research Access Management team and all involved,

Raoul
