Hello all.

SRAM will be updated on Nov 25th between 20:00 and 22:00 CET. Please read on for more info on the update, as well as some extra information about
SURF Research Access Management (SRAM, formerly known as project SCZ).

  * On Wednesday Nov 25th between 20:00 and 22:00 CET we’ll do an update of the SRAM production environment. Changes (just skip to the next bullet if a bullet is to technical/not relevant for you 😉):
     * For providers of research services: we’ll switch to a new ldap layout. We abandon the posixAccount objectclasses (and associated homedir, uidNumber and gidNumber) because these are too service-specific. In addition we add the uniqueIdentifier attribute for groups and COs as an additional persistent identifier. The new ldap structure is described on the wiki: https://wiki.surfnet.nl/display/SRAM/Connecting+to+LDAP
     * For users: people currently receive emails when they haven’t signed into SRAM for 90 days. We will disable these account suspension and reminder emails for now; these will be reenabled with a better UI in a future release
     * We’ll also fix a number of bugs we found
  * A UX-specialist (UX=User Interaction Design) is working on an improved ‘look & feel’ for SRAM, improving flows, logic and lay-out of screens within SRAM etc. It should make using SRAM easier. We hope to release it in January 2021. We’ll see whether we can share a preview at some moment 😉
  * The number of institutions already connecting their IdP, so people from those institutions can use their institutional account when they get invited to a research collaboration, is growing<https://wiki.surfnet.nl/display/SRAM/Services+and+Institutions+connected+to+SRAM>.
  * SRAM was officially launched during the What’s Next @ SURFconext Nov 17th. We are working hard to finalize everything that is needed so institutions can start ordering SRAM!
  * If you didn’t know, the official SRAM service page can be found at https://www.surf.nl/sram (including the animation you can share to explain to colleagues etc what SRAM is about)

As always: please let us know<mailto:sram-support at surf.nl> in case you have questions, suggestions etc! We’re doing this for you!

Kindest regards from everyone at SURF involved in SURF Research Access Management,

Raoul.
